Led by architectural historian Grace Ong Yan, this course presents an opportunity for aspiring architectural scholars to explore some of the world’s most influential buildings. These landmarks, which span ancient and contemporary structures, were laboratories for innovation and expressions of the values of their cultures and societies.
The buildings considered will range from the familiar to the less studied. They will include the Pantheon, Cathedral of Florence (Brunelleschi), Villa Savoye (Le Corbusier), Vanna Venturi House (Venturi), national Assembly Building in Bangladesh (Kahn), Sydney Opera House (Utzon), Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (Gehry), Thermal Bath in Vals (Zumthor), and ningbo Historic Museum (Shu).
