At various times throughout history representing lust, virginity, and the spilled blood of innocents, the rose has been a powerful symbol in Western Culture for 2000 years. Writer and Rosarian Nicole Juday will trace the path of this beloved plant and its role in our society as it crisscrossed the world, changing shape and form during its travels. After the lecture, attendees will visit the rose garden of Laura Barnes for refreshments.
